Our Expert Opinion

If you have used a normal circular saw, you will know that they are powerful and cut really quickly. The main disadvantage is their size and weight and they take a bit of time to set up.

Mini circular saws like this WORX WX423 are much lighter and can be used with just one hand. That makes them handier to use for a range of purposes.

This WX423 model is designed to do plunge cuts mainly and can also be used to cut small pipes and conduit. It comes with 3 blade one for wood, one for metal/plastic and one for brick and masonry.

Electricians, plumbers and many construction workers use this type of saw regularly.

ORX WX423 saw with 3 blades

The WORX WX423 is lightweight (1.4Kg) and very easy to use. The depth guide is very good and the blades are easy enough to change. It comes with 3 blades and a carrying case. It is good value for money. The cutting depth though is very small at just 25mm (1″) so don’t expect miracles from this small saw. If you want this for cutting thicker wood there are better options as you will see in our comparison above.

Our Verdict on the WORX WX423 XL Circular Saw

88% customer satisfaction based on 3,000+ online buyer reviews

In our opinion, this is handy for doing cut out for electrical sockets and switches and also for cutting metal/plastic conduit and pipes. (up to 13mm) It can also handle up to 3mm sheets of aluminium.

It will also work for wood such as beading, skirting boards and most decking boards. Anything thicker than that you will not be able to do with this small saw.

It can cut tiles up to 8mm in thickness.

The motor on this is small at just 400 watts, whereas most other mini circular saws, vary between 500-700 watts. That does mean a reduction in power and the speed of cutting.

It is one of the cheapest on the UK market which does explain why it is the best seller.
